The redesign of CAMHS services for children and adolescents aged 0-19

NHS funded providers of young people’s emotional health and wellbeing services across Lancashire and South Cumbria are continuing to work together to redesign services for children and adolescents aged 0-19 in line with the THRIVE conceptual model, and in response to a commissioning mandate to develop sustainable and standardised care.

The Care Partnership, which is made up of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Cumbria Partnership Foundation Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, has appointed Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust and Healthwatch to facilitate a second period of extensive co-production with the aim of supporting the completion and implementation of the final THRIVE-based care model.  

The initial intensive week-long modelling workshops for partners, non-NHS providers and stakeholders took place on 1 and 15 April, with the two active modelling weeks co-producing on the themes of ‘Access’ and ‘Getting Advice’ respectively. The modelling sessions will continue to run on alternate weeks to develop the THRIVE based offer across all the ‘quadrants’ of care in including ‘Getting Help’,’ Getting More Help’ and ‘Risk Support’ over the coming weeks. 

Children and young people, as well as families and carers, have the opportunity to participate in the modelling workshops and have also been invited to take part in dedicated virtual co-production sessions that run concurrently with the workshops. Facilitated by third-party providers, Healthwatch, the key questions and themes of the ongoing modelling sessions are shared with these participants in closed Facebook groups every evening, following the workshop session. The participants’ responses are discussed in real time, before being captured and fed back to the modelling workshop, creating a continuous and progressive feedback loop of co-production between the two participant groups. 

This process ensures in-depth co-production of the future care model for Lancashire and South Cumbria and that we continue to develop our THRIVE-based model in partnership with children, young people and families in our communities.
