Change Talks
31st October 2018
From his experiences of working as a nurse and suffering from depression himself, Sam Tyrer decided he wanted to do something to raise awareness to tackle mental health issues facing people in Lancashire.
He organised a series of ‘Change Talks’ in 2017 and has never ‘Change Talks’ in 2017 and has never looked back. “I left nursing at the start of January with the support of Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and they are helping me develop Change Talks by collaborating with their services including the Children and Young People’s Transformation Programme. “It has really taken off and had lots of positive results. We’ve seen reduction in self-harm, people reaching out for support and much more. We are now creating a joint offer with other organisations including Lancashire Mind.” Change Talks also organise events and seminars in schools, workplaces and the community to help reduce the stigma of mental health.
