Avoiding Admissions – The Together Workshops

29th April 2019

We are delighted that delivery has now commenced for the Together Workshops across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Co-produced with families across the Integrated Care System (ICS), successful workshops have been delivered by The Birchwood Centre in West Lancashire and Walney Community Trust in Barrow-in-Furness. 22 people attended, supporting a number of young people to manage their daily mental health challenges.

Supporters thoroughly engaged with the workshops, making links with each other and offering peer support and guidance, as well as building confidence and learning new techniques in managing their own wellbeing, in addition to that of their young person.
Attendees fed back that the workshops were invaluable to them in supporting their young people. Surveys showed a significant increase in wellbeing and confidence to support young people, and they felt that the workshops provided “A warm, open environment with excellent advice and support”.

Attendees expressed they felt better equipped to speak to their young person about feelings and emotions, as well as having more knowledge and awareness of the support they can access both locally and nationally. Many attendees have gone on to utilise additional services offered through The Birchwood Centre and Walney Community Trust in order to further strengthen their family relationships and overall wellbeing.

Delivery of the Together Workshops continues throughout 2019, with sessions planned throughout the year. For further details or to make a referral, please contact:
