Together Workshops and the Admissions Project

27th February 2019

As part of the Avoiding Admissions project, Lancashire Mind has been working closely with local families to develop a new support package. The families involved have supported their child through mental health crisis and wanted to help other families by sharing their experience.

Learning from these experiences, Lancashire Mind has created the Together Workshops aimed at supporting families with children who have accessed in hospital mental health services or are at risk of doing so. The Together Workshops, which are now available across Lancashire and South Cumbria, are an opportunity for families to learn skills and spend time with others who are going through many of the same challenges. The support package explores how to look after the wellbeing of the child and the whole family, which is an important aspect of caring for a child with poor mental health.

This opportunity has been made possible as part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria CYPEWMH Transformation Plan. Lancashire Mind will deliver the Together Workshops across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre over the next 12 months, and are working in partnership with local charities across the region who will deliver the Together Workshops in other areas of the county. These include Key Unlocking Futures (Leyland), New Era Enterprises (Burnley), The Birchwood Centre (Skelmersdale) and Walney Community Trust (Barrow-in-Furness).
